Circulating mitochondrial DNA is an early indicator of severe illness and mortality from COVID-19

چکیده
Background. Mitochondrial DNA (MT-DNA) are intrinsically inflammatory nucleic acids released by damaged solid organs. Whether circulating cell-free MT-DNA quantitation could be used to predict the risk of poor COVID-19 outcomes remains undetermined.

Early prediction of COVID-19 mortality risk based on demographic, vital sign and blood test
Background: Early prediction of the outcome situation of COVID-19 patients can decrease mortality risk by assuring efficient resource allocation and treatment planning. This study introduces a very accurate and fast system for the prediction of COVID-19 outcomes using demographic, vital signs, and laboratory blood test data. Methods: In this analytic study, which is done from May 2020 to June ...
متن کامل0474. Circulating mitochondrial dna and vitamin d in critical illness
Methods We performed a prospective observational cohort of MICU patients at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital from 2008-2010 [n=49]. The exposure of interest was 25(OH)D categorized a priori as deficiency (25(OH)D ≤ 15 ng/mL) and measured via competitive chemiluminescence immunoassay. Circulating plasma mitochondrial DNA (mt-DNA) were assessed by measuring copy number of the NADH dehydrogenase 1...
متن کاملIncreased Levels of AIM2 and Circulating Mitochondrial DNA in Type 2 Diabetes
Background: Chronic inflammation has critical role in Type 2 diabetes (T2D), in which IL-1β contributes in insulin resistance and beta cell dysfunction. The activation of NLRP3 and AIM2 by endogens ligands, such as mtDNA can lead to the release of active form of IL-1β. Objective: To evaluate AIM2 expression and activation as well as circulating mtDNA levels in T2D patients. Methods: AIM2 expres...

The 2019 Coronavirus disease pandemic (COVID-19) has spread to over two hundred countries worldwide, affecting > 170 million people and causing >3,500,000 deaths (May 29, 2021). Severe COVID-19 disease mostly disturbs the respiratory system, but gastrointestinal symptoms, including vomiting, nausea and diarrhea, are also present. Herein, we are reporting a COVID-19 patient with acute pancreatit...
